I have taken forteo for 6 months. When should I have a bone density test to determine if it helps?

I would like to stop Forteo if I don't have a good result .  The costs are so high I want to know whether it is working.

Thanks so much for your question. This report from Johns Hopkins dealing with the success of Forteo could be of some interest to you. Unfortunately, the only person who can really answer the question is your doctor. Every person is unique, so only your doctor will be able to tell you when you should next be tested or how successful your treatment has been. You should also raise any concerns you have about your treatment method with him or her.
