Q: Is Calcitonin-Salmon a generic for Miacalcin Nasl Spray?

I was on Miacalcin Nasl Spray for a year without any side effects.  My Doctor changed my perscription to Calcitonin-Salmon about 5 months ago.  I have had sever sinus problems ever since I started taking the Calcitonin-Salmon.  I have heard that this is not even the generic for Miacalcin Nasl Spray.  Thanks for any iformation you can provide for me.

Hi Lee, welcome and thanks for your question.  Calcitonin-Salmon is the generic for Miacalcin.  Here's a link on it from the Mayo clinic you can read to comfirm.

Sorry you are having trouble with the generic version.  Will your insurance let you get the brand name instead?  If so that could solve the problem.  You may be allergic to one of the inactive ingredients in the generic, so check with your pharmacist and Dr. to see what they are.  Explain the situation to your Dr. and see if you can go back to the brand name.

Good luck with this, If you have any other questions just post again.
