I went off of fosamax due to conflicting information. my dr wants me to take it again.. what do you think I should do now////

Hi special, welcome to the community.  I'm so sorry you didn't get any benefits from so many years on Fosamax.  If you plan on switching to another treatment, then really all you can do is a compart and contrast of all the medications.  Boniva, Actonel, Reclast and Fosamax are all in the same class of drugs called bisphosphonates, so the side effects are similar.  Even though they are in the same class, they do have differences.

Here's an article from our expert Dr. Gonter explaining the benefits and risks of each.  Talk to your Dr. and see if one of these medications is recommended for so since you are the only one who can decide what to take.

Forteo does stimulate new bone growth, but it is very expensive, has it's own risks/benefits and may not be something that your Dr. would choose.  Here's an article on Forteo, from the Cleveland Clinic, that explains it.  It is a daily injection that you take for 2 years, so keep that in mind as well.

Good luck with your decision, I hope you find something that will work for you.
