Q: If I have mild anterior mitral valve leaflet prolapse with 1+mitral regurgitation is fosamax harmful

I am concerned about continuing to take the drug fosamax for borderling osteoporosis after hearing about it causing atrial fibrillation. I do not know if this will cause me any harm with my being diagnosed in 2007 with the above. I have had no side effects with this drug. My family history includes my aunt dying at age 50 of heart disease and her son having bypass surgery when he was 20. What do you suggest that I do?

Hello,

You ask an important question. Please see:

Talk with your doctor about this, as each person's situation is individual and unique. Bottom line: It's important to determine what's best for YOU.
