Who should get IV Bisphosphonate therapy instead of oral?

I'm trying to find if there are specific recommendations for whom to consider IV vs oral bisphophonate therapy. Is a trial of oral therapy that is ineffective or poorly tolerated an adequate or necessary preface to the use of the IV meds? Is convenience considered a legitimate reason to use the IV…
