Hi samina, welcome and thanks for your question.  Do you know what your t-scores are?  You mention that they are below normal so did the Dr. say you have "osteopenia" low bone mass, or "osteoporosis?"  If you have your test results look at it and see what the numbers are for:   -Total Hip -Femoral Neck -Spine   If you are trying to decide which medication you might like to take, read as much about each so you are truly informed about the plus and minuses of each.  Here's an article from our Expert Dr. Gonter on:   "Fosamax, Actonel, Boniva: Why Might a Patient Be Prescribed One Oral Bisphosphonate Over Another?"   http://www.healthcentral.com/osteoporosis/c/73/8029/boniva-oral   For more on t-scores, medications, Drs that treat osteoporosis, exercise and supplements you may like to download our "Beginners Guide to Osteoporosis" here you'll see the downloadable guide to the left of the screen below Dr. Gonters picture.  The download process is really easy and it comes to you in PDF form via email.   Normally osteoporosis doesn't cause pain until you fracture a bone, so unless you think you've broken a bone the pain you are experiencing is probably related to something else.  If you have access to a orthopeadic see if you can have this Dr. evaluate the cause of your pain.  The noise you mention is typical in several things, one being arthritis, but to be sure see a bone specialist to get a diagnosis on this.   Good luck and if you don't have your t-scores ask your Dr. to send you a copy of the report so you can keep track of your progress over time.
