Q: does vitamin k-2 help with bone density/fractures

I have found some articles on vitamin k=2 helping with bone density.  Has anyone had any experience with vitamin k-2 and can you take it with Forteo?

Hi Kathy:  Interesting question.  I asked my mineral metabolism doctor the same question while I was on Forteo and she said that she wasn't aware of any benefits for bone density or fracture prevention with vitamin K1 or K2.  I think my drs main concern was that we didn't know if or what the affect may be on Forteo, so she didn't want me to interfere with it, since I was doing well on it.

How are you doing on Forteo?   I would ask your Dr about this and see what she or he says since I can almost gaurantee there hasn't been any studies done on the combination of vit K2 and Forteo.  Hopefully the Forteo is enough to regain you bmd.

Good luck on your quest.
