Hi Kathryn, welcome and thanks for your question.  Are you taking or considering taking the once-monthly dose of Boniva or the quarterly injection?

Here's the important safety information on the once monthly dose.  The information on the injectable would be about the same, except for some possible blood or urine testing that should be done.  If you have hypocalcemia (low blood calcium) the drug is not recommended for those with this problem.  Also, if you have any pre-existing kidney problems check with your Dr. about taking this, and also ask your Dr. to give you a list (patient insert) on the side effects and have him explain them to you thoroughly.

Here's the link to Roche's web site, the manufacturer of Boniva.  Look for the ISI (Important Safety Information) near the bottom of the screen, plus you can read more about the side effects, how it works etc by using the options on the left of the screen regarding the drug.  If you need their phone number that should be listed as well.

Good luck and if you have another question don't hesitate to ask.
