My understanding is that there is a link between type 1 diabetes and low bone density, but no relationship between low bone density and type 2. I have read so much about this that I can't say exactly where I read this. Try to Google diabetes and osteoporosis and you will find what you are looking for. I don't have diabetes, but have to keep watch because of previous fasting glucose levels in the "pre-diabetic" range. I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis and have a compression fracture of the spine. I am a 54 year old male.
