Hi JPHBY, thanks for the very good question. I couldn't find a good answer for you, but suggest you call your local pharmacy and ask the phamacist.  They would be more familiar with the different types of salt used in medications and how they differ from table salt.  This may also be a good question for you cardiololgist or the dr. who suggested you try one of the osteo drugs.  take care...phyllis
