have stress fractures-am on fentanyl patch 25mc, 2 months-want to get off- can i just stop?

Hi thurley welcome and thanks for your question.  I'm so sorry you've had these fractures and pain, that must be very difficult to deal with. 

 

When ever you need to adjust or discontinue any medication your Dr. "has to supervise" this, especially with this type of med.  Since this is a time-released patch medication the Dr. will have to decide how to taper you off of it.  Give the Dr. a call and make an appointment to see how this will be accomplished.  You can't just stop taking it, that would be dangerous.  You can also verify this with your pharmacist.

 

I'm sure the Dr. will know how to handle this and adjust the dose, so you can gradually go off of it, if that's what you want to do.

 

Good luck with this and make sure the Dr. is in charge of this so you don't have any unwanted or dangerous reactions.
