Report: Bone loss meds' effects exaggerated

A new report published in the British Medical Journal suggests that drug companies exaggerate the benefit of osteoporosis drugs to women who do not have the disease. According to researchers, drug companies attempt to erase the distinction between osteoporosis and osteopenia, even though women with this precursor to osteoporosis have a very low risk of fracture. The report points to four published studies that exaggerate the benefits of osteoporosis drugs while downplaying their risks. Read more »
