A study of prescribing practices has found that doctors primarily
prescribe Fosamax and Actonel as first-line treatments for
osteoporosis. Doctors cited their familiarity with the medications
and Fosamax and Actonel's reliability in improving bone mass
density as the reasons for beginning patients' osteoporosis
treatment with these meds.
