The osteoporosis medication Forteo appears to help bone fractures heal more quickly, researchers say. Researchers gave the drug to 145 people who had unhealed fractures. Many of them had been living with the broken bones for six months or more. At the end of 12 weeks, 93 percent of the patients showed significant healing and pain control. Experts say the drug works by boosting the production of stem cells, which means even older patient's bones heal as well as young people's.
