Osteoporosis research heads into space

The weightlessness of space often causes astronauts to lose bone mass. Many even develop disuse osteoporosis, a form of the condition that causes patients to be bedridden or disabled. Now Canadian researchers will look at bone specimens that have been shot into space in the hopes of finding out what causes this kind of bone loss.
