Hospitalization for osteoporosis has jumped 55 percent

Researchers say the number of seniors who were hospitalized for fractures increased 55 percent between 1995 and 2006, and most of them were women. The hospitalizations numbered 254,000 in 2006, and was paid mostly by Medicare. The study also found that women in the Midwest suffered the most fractures, while women in the Western United States suffered the least.
