Fractures heal more quickly with medication

A new study has found that bone fractures heal more quickly if patients are given an injection of thyroxine. Thyroxine is a naturally occurring substance that is often used to treat brittle bones. In a study of 102 postmenopausal women who had a wrist fracture, researchers found that the women given thyroxine healed an average of two weeks earlier than women who were given a placebo.
