Celiac disease linked to osteoporosis

People who have celiac disease may be more prone to osteoporosis, a new study has found. Researchers had believed that it was vitamin deficiency in celiac patients that led to bone loss, but the new study found that celiac makes the body produce antibodies that attack a person's own bones. Experts say this explains why even patients who take calcium and vitamin D have trouble maintaining bone health.  Read full story >
