Cell phones may reduce hip bone density

Wearing a cell phone in a pocket or at the waist may reduce bone density in the hip, a new study has found. Turkish researchers studied 150 men who carried their phones clipped to a belt and found that bone density in the pelvis was reduced on the side where the phone was carried. The bone loss didn't approach the level associated with osteoporosis, but researchers pointed out that the men had an average age of 32, which meant significant bone loss could be achieved by the time they were middle age. Experts say electromagnetic fields in phones is the cause, and they suggest that people carry their phones as far away from their bodies as possible.  Read full story >
