2 Studies Suggest Bisphosphonates Up Hip Fracture Risk

Using bisphosphonates for more than five years may lead to brittle bones and hip fractures, two new studies suggest. Researchers say the paradox is that bisphosphonates (such as Fosamax, Boniva, Actonel, and Reclast) appear to strengthen bones for a while, but in some people they can do the opposite if taken long term.
