Caring for Bones May Save Lives

Australian researchers say that treating osteoporosis could cut the rate of premature death by 10 percent. The study reviewed the outcomes of 10 clinical studies involving more than 39,500 patients. Researchers say avoiding the first fracture is the key to longevity, since 10 to 20 percent of osteoporosis patients die within a year of suffering a hip fracture.
