A successful book launch and radio broadcast about my illness and experiences

As you may have read here on HealthCentral, I wrote a memoir called "My Schizophrenic Life: The Road to Recovery from Mental Illness." My book launch was today at an auditorium at the hospital. I had 75 guests and it was catered. The books sold out! I was very happy! There was a lot of details I had to remember and I had volunteers to help me during the event. I gave a ten minute reading and signed many books. The event was an hour and a half...

What my doctor said about reducing medication

I met with my psychiatrist today to discuss reducing my medication. He was open to reducing my dosage by 5 mg over a period of a month in 2.5 mg increments. He said that the medication is still in your system for 5 days, so reducing over time is very important.

I complained of feeling tired on Zyprexa, but he said, it was more likely due to my busy schedule.

My mental health worker said, it's good to check it out and be sure...

Cutting back on medication: is it okay?

Hi, this is my first sharepost. I started hearing voices and became extremely paranoid at age 14, over 30 years ago. My current diagnosis is schizoaffective disorder. I find some relief in creativity, like painting or writing. I wrote a memoir called "My Schizophrenic Life: The Road to Recovery from Mental Illness" which allowed me to reflect on my life. The interesting thing was I gained some perspective and was able to find a silver lining to...
