Too sensitive about the use of the word "Migraine"?

I had plans with a friend on Monday. I had to cancel because I had a migraine. She said "Oh, I'm about to get Migraines too because we're remodeling the kitchen".

I feel like I'm nitpicking, but I'm furious about this. I mean LIVID. Is remodeling going to give you vertigo? Make you throw up? Cause a digestive fiasco that I won't get into? Lay you out for a few days? ...

Getting Insurance to pay for Botox?

I'm getting my first Botox treatment in November, and I'm trying to get my insurance to cover it. I know for a fact it is considered investigational (the funny thing is that from 2004 through May 2009 it wasn't and my compay paid for it). I know I'm going to have to pay out of pocket for my treatment when I get it done, but I'm hoping to get my insurer to reimburse the cost in the long run.

I'm actually doing a pre-service...

Jefferson Headache Clinic Dr Young First Visit.

If you don't want to read the whole thing, the short version is: If you live anywhere near Philadelphia, go to the Jefferson Headache Clinic.

I already posted this in the forums, but I know there are a lot of people who may read share posts, but not our forums, and I want to share my experience with everyone.

After two years of know-nothing neuros, I finally had my first appt at Jefferson on Tues 1/12. The...

The Migraine

Once apon a morning dreary, I woke up achy, weak and weary,
Reeling from the ER visit of night before.
While I struggled, wanting napping, Suddenly there came a stabbing
As if someone's sharp attacking, Gouging at my brain once more.
"A tension headache", I muttered, "Stabbing at my head once more.
Only this and nothing more."

I can no longer remember when my head was all the better,
And my pain was just displeasure I felt...

Just Sick and Tired

I'm not much of a share-poster, more of a forum addict. But I feel I have been abusing the privledge of the Gripes folder as of late, so I figured I'd just vent into the proverbial ether....

I'm on day two of my present migraine. In July, I have had a grand total of..... 23 days of migraine pain. Not all consecutive but most of them. I haven't had 2 pain free days in a row since June.

I have no more energy left to fight...

Whining about Topamax side effects....

I freaking hate this drug..... I have been on Topamax for eight days and it is already driving me nuts! The tingling in my finger tips is annoying, but I can live with it. The neuro who prescribed told me to take potassium, and I noticed when I take a 99mg a day it goes away. Fine. And the coginitive difficulties, frustrating but maybe I could cope with my IQ dropping 40 points for the next couple of months for the hope of my...
