Starting Cymbalta and stopping nothing else

I was supposed to start taking Cymbalta after I saw the rheumatologist Feb. 9. At first, I wanted to get through my cycle before starting it. Now, I find I am dragging my feet as I look at the calendar at doctor appointments that I have this week and next. I know what the problem is: Fear of the unknown. I don't know how I will overcome this one and start taking the medication. I have a physical tomorrow and a follow-up Wed. with my pain...

Tomorrow I get Botox for migraine treatment

Tomorrow is the big day: I get my first Botox treatment from my pain management doctor. I'm nervous, but anxious to find out the results of the treatment. I'll post again once I'm home, rested, etc. I'm glad I had other posts from the My Migraine Connection community to read so I know what to expect. The one side effect the doctor mention is that he's had patients feel like they can't hold their head up on their own or something to that effect....

I've been "dumped"

I should have believed my physical therapist I guess when he said I'd been "given the boot." I saw my new neurologist on Jan. 10. She did refer me to a migraine specialist and a rheumatologist, which was fine. I had asked about whether I should see them. Of the migraine specialist, it will be a while until I can afford to go to the initial appointment since I'm already facing medical bills between my husband and me combined. She had said of the...

What to do when you have more than one chronic illness?

I have wanted to go to a migraine specialist to get a handle on my chronic headaches and migraine attacks, but am reluctant to leave the neurologist I see. I have TMD and fibromyalgia, so these conditions add to the problem. My neurologist however seems to mostly focus on the headaches and minimally on TMD and fibromyalgia anyway. She tells me to exercise more and to keep to a regular sleep schedule, etc., for the fibro.

I'm a "mixed...

Frustration with new neurologist's office

My fourth neurologist's office was so packed in the schedule that I always had to call in advance to see how far back staff had pushed my appt. I would come when they said to and then wait another hour for the doctor. I was tired of that, so I asked my family doctor for a referral. When he was looking into a new neurologist for me, my family doctor said he couldn't look at any of the practices of the last four doctors I saw. It has now put me in...

Yet another doctor

I made appointments for physicals for my husband and I, which included asking for blood tests. When the doctor saw my blood work, he ordered an anemia panel. It showed I am anemic, so I started using Bifera after the iron prescribed made me sick. He said that, if the next anemia panel showed it's improved, he'll up the dose of Bifera since I can stomach it. I had another panel done after I went to see him about IBS issues, and his assistant...

IMATCH treatment program

My first appointment with Dr. Mark Stillman at the Cleveland Clinic was last Thursday. He suggested that I should have a sleep study done since fibromyalgia tends to interfere with deep, REM sleep patterns. He also thought I would benefit from the clinic's IMATCH treatment program, a 5-day-a-week, 3-week outpatient program. They pretty much clean out the system of all the pain meds and current ways you are treatment headache/migraine, and then...

Comorbid conditions, medications and me

I have migraine disease and fibromyalgia, along with interstitial cystitis. I went to the neurologist for a follow-up on the first two Thursday. I had the appointment for 3 p.m., but I always need to call ahead because he's often running behind. I was told to come at 4 p.m. My husband took me to the appointment and we sat through all of "Ellen" in the waiting room. We got back to a room around 5:15-5:20 p.m. and didn't see the doctor...

Wish I just had one problem

I was going to request an appointment at the Headache Clinic up at Cleveland Clinic, but there was this thought I kept having about the fact that I have fibromyalgia as well. I really hate my daily headaches. I hate migraine attacks. They take up the majority of my life just dealing with them. The problem is much deeper though. I also have pain in other areas of my body, especially my neck. My neck and shoulders trigger the headaches alone...

Problem once again with refilling Relpax

I just now tried to refill Relpax at Walgreens. The last refill led to me wasting time going to the pharmacy to pick it up and finding out my insurance company wouldn't refill it until they had something from my doctor explaining why I needed that particular drug. I guess it's because there are other abortives out there, and this one in particular is newer. Just a guess. Anyway, I thought it must have been taken care of because it was refilled....
