Deanne Stein is an on-air reporter for WOWK-TV, the CBS affiliate in Charleston, West Virginia. Originally from Oklahoma, Deanne graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma. She moved to West Virginia in 1996 to start her television career. She began as a producer/reporter at WDTV in Bridgeport, West Virginia. After about a year, she moved on to WOWK, where she continues to cover news in the Mountain State.

It was during her time at WOWK, when Deanne suffered a massive stroke. In the fall of 2001, Deanne was conducting an interview at the local school board. After the interview, she started to feel very tired. Then her face became drawn and her right arm went limp.

Deanne immediately went to the hospital. At only the age of 31, doctors were unsure what was wrong at first. But after further examination, a neurologist finally determined she was having a stroke. Doctors discovered a blood clot behind Deanne's left ear. Since Deanne made it to the hospital within 3 hours of her first symptoms, she was a candidate for a clot-dissolving medication.

The drug dissolved the clot and after six months of rehabilitation, Deanne is fully mobile and back at work. She enjoys spending all of her free time with her husband and 11 year old son. Deanne also volunteers her time working with the local chapter of the American Heart Association.
