Jane M. Martin is a licensed respiratory therapist with over thirty years experience. In addition to her work in respiratory care, Jane is an author and the founder and director of BreathingBetterLivingWell.com, a website providing information about chronic lung disease, as well as stories, articles, and an active forum to share experiences in a positive and accepting community.
In her work in pulmonary rehabilitation and breathing support groups Jane was inspired by her patients, but concerned for others with little or no information and support living in isolation and despair. In an effort to bring patients together to help each other, she wrote Breathe Better, Live in Wellness: Winning Your Battle Over Shortness of Breath, sharing stories of everyday people with extraordinary and inspiring wisdom, humor, and courage, not only surviving but thriving in spite of chronic lung disease. Her latest book, Live Your Life with COPD - 52 Weeks of Health, Happiness and Hope combines the voice of successful COPD patient, Jo-Von Tucker with Jane's teachings as a respiratory therapist.
Originally from the Chicago area, Jane has a bachelor's degree in Education and Language Arts from Hope College. She studied respiratory therapy through the California College for Health Sciences in San Diego, California. She is a member of the Michigan Society for Respiratory Care, the American Association for Respiratory Care, the Asthma Network of West Michigan, and serves on the editorial boards of The COPD Digest and Alpha-1 to One.
