Want to fend off diabetes

Hi, my mother, 69 years old, was just recently diagnosed with diabetes. Recently I went to a health fair and discovered my levels were slightly high. Since mom has extra strips and testing supplies I've been checking my levels. They were higher than I expected. I will fend off this thing and I'm here to help mom in the education she needs. She's failed to research or read physicians pamphlet's. We both need to know more.
