Failing TNF Blockers

Happy Holidays to all!

It's been quite some time since I've posted or even been to RA Central. It's good to be back.

It's been a year of ups and downs for me. I had been on Humira for 1.5 years after being on Enbrel and Cimzia. A couple of months ago it became slowly evident that Humira just wasn't helping. I tried to ignore it (put fingers in ears and yell "la-la-la") but the reality set in one day when my orthopedic surgeon asked...

On Being a Dad with RA

Father's Day is upon us once again and having four children ages 12-19 makes this day one of celebration. All four are successful in their own ways resulting in much pride and joy. But the past few years dealing with a chronic illness like rheumatoid arthritis brought about adjustments in our family and in my role as a father.

Approximately 70 percent of rheumatoid arthritis patients are women for reasons unknown. Take a gander around...

Biological meds and headaches

I'm on my second biological med since April (Enbrel first, now Cimzia). When I first started Enbrel I would get headaches periodically. Since starting Cimzia (once a month injection), I get debilitating migraines. Last month it went on for about 2 weeks after injection. This month, the first week has not been fun. The good news is that my RA symptoms seem to be better.

Has anyone else experienced headaches with...

What To Say When They Ask "How Are You Doing?"

As I continue down this path of living with rheumatoid arthritis, I find myself regularly pondering how to respond to friends and family when they ask "How are you doing?". RA is a weird thing because it comes and goes at will. Of course, my wife knows without any questioning or verbal information from me. She can see the signs. But others don't live with me everyday, or have a thorough knowledge of RA, so it's much harder for them to...
