Migraines complicate FMS which complicates migraines...hmmm

I have chronic migraines, which rather became chronic because of the Firbromyalgia and co-triggers (such as severe photophobia). Apparently this also makes my migraines more difficult to treat, as a result I have had some extreme problems finding a preventative for the migraines. I am now trying a combo of Lyrica and Cymbalta... both of which help with nerve pain and FMS pain but not so much with the migraines.

So my doctor...

Flaring?

I thought I had had an adverse reaction to Lyrica, but now not so certain. I have been off it awhile now... but the moderate to severe leg pain, pain in the joints, swelling, is so not going away. Yet swelling is not a FMS thing and I don't think it is a side effect from any other med, since the only new one is Axert. I thought maybe my thyroid was off a little, and it was, turns out I was a little over medicated, since my...

Lyrica-the FMS med?

Well, Lyrica not for me, unfortunately. It was working as a migraine preventative and I believe helping with FMS pain as well, or I believe so, now that I lack it. However, it gave me a great deal of pain as well. A side effect I hoped was just a FMS flare, but was actually due to swelling in the joints, then brusing, then a lot of pain and decreased mobility. I have been off it weeks now and am still recovering, still...

Trying out Lyrica

I think it is woking for some pain, but not with weakness, trembling and such. And when I do things, such as when I went book shopping and was carrying ten books, it hurt up my arm, in my back, and my arm shook. Then it hurt quite a bit more the next day, so no help with that pain. And when I get a miigraine on the this drug, I get muscle pain, in different areas, or all over that is quite intense... rather hoping that is a...

On new drug

I find myself in the unique position of being on a drug for migraine prevention that actually might do something for the FMS pain at the same time. It is lyrica, that drug said to be benificial to FMS. It is the first time in eight years since I have been on a drug said to be helpful with FMS. Since most doctors tend to take the 'suck it up' approach to FMS I have not really recieved any treatment for it, asside...

Lack of sleep

I have noticed something. I became tolerant to my sleeping pill and so for about a month I simply could not sleep; as in not at all to very disrupted few hours. Which led to some over sleeping to somehow balance things out. I was not immediately aware the med was now ineffective, I simply thought the frequency and intensity of my night time migraines nullified the sleeping pill. One thing I did notice was the...

Going back to work

Since, so far, I am optimistic with my botox injections for migraines I return to work on Monday. And I really think it is about time. The migraines have essentially knocked me out. A lot of not moving and a lot of sleeping. As a result I have been in quite of pain from pure inactivity. Nothing to be done about it really, but I feel when I get back into the work routine it will be much better for me. And since...

A painful reminder

I went to go see the Canada Day fireworks in town. Since it was only about a fifteen minute walk from where we live, we walked. I felt some knee pain and hip pain as I started off, and it built up quickly, along with some unsteadiness and balance problems. I was hurting pretty good when we got there. Watching the fireworks was great. I love fireworks. On the walk back, onviously the pain had already...

I am having it a bit rough lately. Extremely tired. I had broncitis and it took forever to got over that. Then I had a reaction to my migraine abortive, which was the cause of the chest pains and breathing problems I was having. I have missed far too many days at work. Beginning to wonder how much more I can tolerate of this. Then I caught some sort of throat infection, while at the same time going through a...
