ABOUT ME:

I'm fifty eight and a mother of two grown children neither of which have bi-polar disorder. My son seems depressed but may just be sort of mirrroring my affect. I was diagnosed six years ago after a huge manic reaction to an antidepresent. I was on depakote and seroquel early on in my diagnosis but am not on any medication at this time. I self monitor fairly well but have problems with feeling inauthentic and unable to trust certing feelilngs for fear that these feelings mark the beginnings of a breakdown of all defense mechanims- or a "crash" into either depression or mania.

I work as a Guest Services Representative in am major hi-end hotel seving clients
from government officials to celebrities. I worked in mental health up to my diagnosis and found that the stress of speaking with clients was becoming too stressful as I aged

So that's sort of where I'm at. BA in english literature so I read alot. MA in clinical psych so I analyze myself probably too much.
