Updates 8-9-10

I did it. I finally had to leave the neurologist I was seeing and head back to the one I was with before. I am not thrilled with this decision but I don't have much choice. The doctor I was with for the past 3 years (we will call him Dr. A) did not believe migraines were a disablility. I don't know if it was the weather, treatment, or the distressing fact that Doctor A didn't believe migraines were a disablity, but the migraines just started...

I don't remember what I last wrote so I will just start from the begining. I am still seeing the same doctor. Everytime I get frustrated with him, he and his office are so very nice and accomidating that I just can't be angry with them anymore. The apologized profusely about the canceling of my appointment and trying to get me one right away.

That appointment was in March I believe. I was given a lidocaine spray to try for when my...

Final Straw!

Last I posted my Doctor had cancelled an appointment and I was waiting for his office to call back with an appointment time. Would you believe me if I said they never called back?? I thought you would. So I called them and this is the B.S. they gave me.

Me: Hi. I need to make an appointment with Dr. *.
Office: Have you been here before?
Me: Yes. My name is ____.
Office: What is (information).
Me: (Give info).
Office: He is not...

March 28th 2010---Updates

I wish I had something new to update. The only thing I have is more complaints about my doctor. I was supposed to see him in January and because of the snow storms in my area I had to cancel. They couldn't book me until late February and then they cancelled my appointment the day before. I was rescheduled for last week and again I was cancelled. I have gone almost 4 months without an appointment and so much has happened. They still have to call...

Worst migraine in years?

I am back in NY visiting with my boyfriend. The holidays were quite nice and my migraines were not bad at all. Most of the time was spent relaxing in front of the TV or lounging on my parents' couch. When we left to come back to NY I checked repeatedly to make sure I packed all my medications. We had lots to pack in the trunk from Xmas. Last week I started with a migraine and could only find my Axert. My migraine went away, but now I knew I had...

Updates, Frustrations, Insurance, Holidays

I went forward with my neurologist appointment last month. I was able to address my concerns on my medication and his view on disability. While I wasn't thrilled with his response on the disability, he lowered the dose of the amitryptiline and the constipation has decreased a lot. I am also trying Treximet as an abortive and have a prescription for prednisone should I get a migraine that lasts more than 4 days. I had a few of those previous to...

Scary Side Effects

I have several medical conditions. These conditions require me to be on medications. Most of these medications cause constipation and once I had to go to the hospital because the pain was incredibly excrutiating and I hadn't had a bowel movement in over a month. I had to talk one of my doctors into lowering the dose of one medication and another doctor into taking me off another in order to lessen the load, so to speak.

Here we are two...

Migraine Progress VS Insurance (Update)

Thank you Denise and Nancy for your thoughts.

I do keep a migraine journal and have for several years now. The past few Neuro visits (I give them a copy of my journal) have shown that my migraines have seemed to improve. The Zomig does in fact help my migraines clear up within a couple hours, although I do get some nasty nausea and a nasty sore throat. However, this summer has been a bad one. Maybe it's been all the rain? Humidity?...

Migraine progress leads to loss of insurance

It has been a year since leaving my previous migraine doctor. I happily report that I have made good progression with my migraines since then. It was a difficult road finding a replacement doctor, but the migraine doctor I have now is incredibly nice, understanding and full of knowledge on leading treatments. Since being his patient I have almost half the amount of migraines per month I did before.

I am now facing a dilemma. This new...

Slowly, but surely, I am finding releif

I have been in physical therapy since January and my migraines have improved. I still get them, but they do not come as often and not as intense. I have been given a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator) unit and that helps as well. I was actually given one of these many years ago, but I was young and stupid and didn't want to use it the way you were supposed to so I didn't reap any benefits from it. The great thing about this new...
