I am a retired, disabled Quality Manager and Artist. I have RA, OA of the lumbar spine, off/on Anemia, and two new knees. It has taken me since 1997 until I developed Anemia in 2008 to get on medicines that have really made a difference - life changing. Prior to that I wasn't sleeping and was in constant horrible pain. I now have two new knees 10/08 and 5/09 and realize I should have done it much sooner. Enbrel has been a HUGE difference. I still have problems walking because of the OA in my lumbar spine which I get facet blocks and radio frequency treatments for, but I am no longer in constant pain and I sleep much better. I would be happy to answer any questions I can about this journey I have been on.
Folks I can't figure out how to post this so you all can see it, but people were asking for this info:
Considering how many people are grappling with high prescription drug costs, it's important to remember to find deals wherever and whenever you can. Try these tricks:
- Ask your doctor for help. Many people never ask their doctors about how they could save on medicines. Your doctor may have plenty of ideas -- and he or she also may have access to free samples.
- Ask your pharmacist for help. A frank discussion with your local pharmacist also could work wonders for you. Inquire about free samples or less expensive alternatives that will be effective for your situation.
- Investigate helpful programs. To determine your eligibility for reduced-cost or cost-free drug programs, visit the Web site of Partnership for Prescription Assistance.
Another site that can point you to drug manufacturers' assistance programs is NeedyMeds.org. Pfizer also offers assistance programs for people who need help paying for prescription drugs. For details, click here.
