ABOUT ME:

I am a 53-year-old widowed, single mother of an 18-year-old son. I have a degree in Psychology, am conversationally fluent in Spanish; I started two statewide support groups for people with mental illness diagnoses - the first one being called PEOPL - Personal Empowerment of the Psychiatrically Labeled, in Little Rock, Arkansas and the second one called The Vermont Coalition, in Burlington, Vermont. My husband (diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder) co-founded the Vermont Coalition with me. Sadly, my husband died four years ago. I have a lot of information to share about mental illness and weight loss, treatment modalities that have worked for me (and some that did NOT). My son will be in college next fall, which will leave me time to volunteer at the local Humane Society. I firmly believe that pets (in my case, cats) are an integral part of our family and provide us with much-needed entertainment and love. My cats' names are Tika, Gordo and Cosmo.
