DRUGS I AM TAKING:
Just discontinued Copaxone after having 2 post injection reactions (they were horrible). I was only on Copaxone for 6 months. Now I am going to start Avonex. I did not initially want this drug because I have a horrible immune system and I get sick all of the time. I did not want to get the side effects of this drug. Now I have no choice.
ABOUT ME:
Hi my name is Jessica and I am 31 years old. I have two wonderful little boys ages 3 and 7 and my fiance has a 9 year old daughter. I have been divorced twice. I do not think that my other two spouses would have been able to deal with my MS at all. I have a wonderful fiance and his name is Dave, he helps me out so much, we have been together for 3 years. All growing up I was such an athelete, sports was my life. I was diagnosed with MS in December of '08. My Neurologist thinks that I have had MS since I was 18, my symptoms started back then and i went from doctor to doctor with the obvious complaints. If you look back in all of my medical record you could have gathered that all I needed was an MRI. Needless to say now I have multiple lesions in both Cerebral hemispheres and all over. I am keeping a positive attitude, not that it does not bother me at times. I have learned to slow down and I can't physically do all that I used to do. To me that is VERY frustrating. I have worked in the medical field for 10 years in Vascular Surgery, the cancer center and a primary care doctors office. I have learned alot for being a secretary. In finding my diagnosis I never gave up and basically figured out what it was with the help of switching PCP's and getting a Neurologist. I also have many symptoms of Lupus, all though my ANA is always negative I suffer from Raynauds even in the spring and Summer and have much joint pain. My Rheumatologist believes that I may have Lupus as well. I also have very high Anti Cardiolipin IGM's. I had kidney failure due to strep throat when I was 19 and from that two months later they took two quarts of fluid from my heart in the operating room (paracardial window). It was a miracle that I even lived after that my doctors said, I was initially misdiagnosed with my kidney failure as well, they had no idea what was wrong with me. It started on 10/31/99 and I was finally admitted to the hospital on 12/03/1999 where they began plasma fereces treatments to see if they could get my kidneys to start functioning. The scariest thing was when the doctor walked in and told me that he was not sure that I would pull through. Thank God I did. I believe that God would not give any one person that they cannot handle. Just keep strong, do what you can everyday and be thankful that you are alive!!!!!
