men and osteoporosis

most of the articles i have read refer to women only, are there no men with this condition or is it extremely rare?i have been type 2 diabetic for a number of years and have been taking metformin and rosiglitazone for about two years, and have now developed osteoporosis of the spine and hip, discussed it with my doctor and she has suggested that i now have to go on insulin injections.
