ABOUT ME:

I have MS which is probably not a shock to anyone reading these types of sites. I am 41, have three grown daughters and a grandchild. My partner's name is Ann and together we have a Yorikpoo and 2 cats. I work full-time as a Domestic Violence Community Education Coordiantor which means I do presentations and a lot of trainings for law enforcement, health care, clergy, etc. I LOVE my work. And my employer is flexible with my health needs. Currently my relapses have come about twice a year lasting for about a month. The rest of the year I am careful not to over do it so that my symptoms flair up. However, sometimes the symptoms flair whether I overdo it or not. I'm greatly affected by heat and stress so I try to avoid both. I work 7:30-3:30 most days and never work more than 40 hours a week. I take a holistic approach to my healing. I feel very connected to energy work so I often will try healing methods that fall way outside of traditional medicine (healing touch, Reiki kinesiology, vitamins and herbs, etc.) I didn't like the way I felt when I gave myself shots 3x a week and I didn't like how elevated my liver panels had become so I decided to try another approach. This seems to be working for me for now. I did try an MS diet in which I cut out all sugar, dairy, wheat, etc., etc... That lasted for about 2 months and I fell off the wagon HARD. However, I have managed to stay of diet soda because I do believe that the aspartame was affecting my health. At the time they were looking for my MS they also found that I have an aneurysm located in my right carotid artery behind my right eye. There isn't much we can do with it now so we watch it and I am careful not to let my blood pressure raise and I'm not allowed to lift over 20 lbs. My daily motto is 'breathe'. It gets me through a lot!
