Sleep feeding in Infants-new survey results...

Recently Jan Gambino and I conducted a survey on sleep-feeding infants. Sixty one parents of sleep feeding infants took the survey and at least 60% of the parents answered all questions. Remaining 40% parents could not answer all questions because in many babies, sleep feeding had not been resolved by the time they took the survey.
Our survey results have been listed below:

A. Among all sleep feeding infants (children of parents who...

Ending sleep feeding: what works and what does not

After being away for over a year from Health Central, I thought I need to come back and update the status of my sleep feeder baby. Avin is no longer a baby and he is no longer a sleep feeder; he is now a 2 year old toddler who had graduated to eating table foods; rice, veggies, fruits, crackers, toast, yogurt etc. We had stopped his Prevacid (Lansoprazole) briefly, but had to start it again after he began vomiting. He...

Mommy’s solution to Avin’s sleep-feeding: understanding reflux and feeding difficulties

I have written several shareposts on this site and this one is more of a review or summary type of post. My expertise is that I am a mother of a reflux baby and I understand science (Ph.D. in Biological Sciences). I am not a medical doctor or a therapist but when these experts explain the logic behind their treatment, I can understand it pretty well.

Eventually, we were very lucky to find a good pediatrician and a...

Avin's story continues: Acid reflux, bottle aversions and starting with solids

Recently we took our little boy Avin to his nth therapist. This lady is a very experienced SLP (Speech Language Pathologist) who specializes in feeding.

After evaluating Avin she said that he does not have any behavioral issues. My husband and I were shocked by her diagnosis.

Every single pediatrician that we met and even all the GI's we met were able to convince us that our son feeding aversions and sleep-feeding were...

How would you know whether an acid reflux medication is working for you baby?

After seeing 3 ped-GI's, 4 pediatricians, 3 therapists, I learned something very interesting about the GERD medicines given to infants. I also joined a local feeding therapy group and we chat online and exchange issues and ideas about medicines, doctor's advice, new products etc. I also met 4 other reflux parents in person and three by phone-- we exchange all the details about our child's feeding problems and GERD. Here are some new things...

Infant reflux and bananas? Can they help your baby?

My son Avin is now 6 months old and is still "sleep-feeding". You may have read my other sharepost on his silent GERD and sleep feeding. We went through 3 pediatricians before we selected one who may not have a whole lot of experience in GERD but is willing to listen and is open minded about trying out new things. She also gave prescribed a few non-invasive tests such as blood, stools, ultrasound to check if things were otherwise...

Avin's silent gerd, sleep feeding

My little boy Avin was born full term (although 3 weeks early) and was barely 5 pounds. After doing really well for the first month he gained 3 more pounds. The ped was very happy. Soon after he started showing symptoms of turning away from bottle, taking very small feeds, pain, discomfort, back and neck arching. I brought it to my pds attention but he just dismissed it as "colic"..."your son will grow out of this, he is gaining weight and he is...
