ABOUT ME:
I took a job as a factory laborer because it paid better than higher tech jobs did I had before. Nine years ago, I set a corporate record lifting 80,000 pounds in a twelve-hour shift. It was a game to make the time go by faster. I would challenge the young guy next to me, asking him if he was going to let an old man beat him. He started running the equipment faster, so we both cranked it up. We soon had workers even on other shifts talking about us and noticing that our department was often setting new production records.
I did not recognize it as MS; I thought I was just getting clumsy with old age. The chocolate factory was not a place where you would want to slip and fall, so quit work there. The temporary job that had lasted well more than a year, and they wanted me to work directly for them. Instead, I attended nursing school. I wish I could say I wanted to help people, but the main thing I was thinking about was long term financial security. I figured that nursing would pay for education in astronomy.
MS hit hard during academic classes, causing me to drop out immediately before my clinical classes. It is strange to think that getting MS enabled me to learn about astronomy faster than I would have been able had I not gotten the MS. I now have the time to write that I would not have had otherwise.
