Side Effect?

Recently diagnosed with depression and prescribed Effexor XR. Now I am wondering if the depression is actually being caused by the drug Depo Provera that I have been on for approx 2 years. Wondering if the depression will subside as the Depo gets out of my system or if I do in fact need to take the Effexor? any one know? :)
