William Carter
I was 20 years old when I became totally catatonic and was admitted into a psychiatric hospital, the veteran's hospital in Salt Lake City. That was in 1963, when I first began writing. "The Person" was my first piece of work.
I have been experiencing mental illness since. I could say I struggled with, or I endured mental illness, but I say experienced because it hasn't been all bad.
Along with my writing, building sand candles and other creative works, I have founded two non-profit organizations both ran by consumers, for consumers, to employ people who are mentally ill.
My latest endeavor was to publish a small book of poetry and prose, entitled, "A Look at Insanity from the Inside Out" A Primer in Positive Poetry.
I still advocate for people with mental illnesses in the most positive way possible.
Thank you for considering my entries. I appreciate your consideration .
