ABOUT ME:

What's there to say about me? I feel like I am currently defined by my RA. That's me, ask my friends and family...it's RA Jess!! Before the RA struck I was a happy healthy mother of 4 kids ranging in age from 16 down to 19 months. We were living up in Maine on 4 acres and a lake, a lifelong dream come true. Then one morning I woke up crippled, and thats been my life since. We packed away our dreams and moved back to PA to be closer to family for help, for better health insurance and accessibility to a Rheumy. I've been treading water for 14 months now and I feel like I am starting to sink with this disease, nothing has helped yet. I live each day as best I can despite it, I find ways to get around all the little things I once took for granted (like, I wear a lot more elastic banded pants! High fashion and its zippers, buttons and ties are not for me and these fingers!) Life is different and I havent fully adjusted, but it hasnt made me love my kids or appreciate a sunny day any less. I may spend more time on the couch or make fewer meals from scratch, but those things ultimately wont define me. I still have kids to look after and raise (one with Autism too!) I have to put on a happy face and show them how to maintain perspective. Life is just too short to wallow.
