ABOUT ME:

I am a 54 year old friendly, giving, lively and intelligent creature, currently prone to momentary bouts of absolute lunacy courtesy of the instant surgical menopause I went through December 11, 2008. When not otherwise turning into Medusa, the Goddess of Snakes who turned seamen to stone, I am actually a warm and loving person who cares for others and their welfare. I was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer March 25th 2008 after three most enjoyable (Ha!) weeks of mammograms and one rather lovely stereotactic biopsy. I was horrified and shocked: there was no breast cancer in my family. My cancer was entirely born out of two things: 1) serious hormonal and gynecological problems I suffered from literally since I was 12 and got my first period and 2) my idiotic use of fertility drugs in my early 30's that did not produce any children but most certainly amped up my chances of getting some kind of cancer. I spent my entire adult life worrying I'd get ovarian or uterine cancer and thus, was hyper vigilant about my gynecological health, but failed to monitor my breasts with that same vigilance. Two surgeries, radiation and other wonderful moments later, I am now struggling with the emotional aftermath of it all, while trying to find meaning in my life and myself again. I am a professional woman, married and have 5 cats, who are spoiled rotten.
