I've had migraine headaches since before menarche (I was 8 when I had my first recognizable one), and was hoping to lose them when I went into menopause a couple of years ago. Ha, ha. So much for that. I was not diagnosed as having migraines until college because my parents refused to believe my symptoms, even when I was vomiting and dizzy.I developed multiple chemical sensitivity after massive exposure to carpet glue solvents at a job, and after that my main migraine triggers were chemical in nature -- and aspartame. After eliminating that from my diet, I had a fairly decent time until I had gastric bypass surgery and lost the fat where I'd been STORING all those nasty chemicals, and began to have 2-3 migraines per week. With a really wonderful PCP and psychiatrist treating me, I have been able to reduce my migraine frequency to once per week (we're still working on that), and though I have had to retire on disability due to fibromyalgia, I do my best to have some kind of life even so.
