Allen J. Blaivas, DO, practices pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine at the VA New Jersey Health Care System in East Orange, a teaching affiliate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He directs the sleep clinic at the VA and is involved in clinical research in sleep medicine. His research interests include excessive daytime sleepiness, insomnia, and post-traumatic stress disorder. He has presented research and cases at national and international meetings and has been published in premier medical journals. Dr. Blaivas completed his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Blaivas enjoys discussing difficult cases and teaching (and learning from) medical students and residents in a clinical setting at the hospital. Outside of medicine, Dr. Blaivas's interests include playing tennis, reading history, and teaching his kids how to swim and ride bikes.
