ABOUT ME:
I now realize I should have been diagnosed with RA many many years ago, in my early 20's I recall having what I now know to be rheumatoid nodules on my left elbow. I also have several more on other parts of my body. I now also have a better understanding of some of the difficulties I previously had with my joints in my hands, feet, arms, shoulders, neck, knees & body. I just wish I had been more educated to know what these nodules were.
In the beginning I was prescribed naproxen for pain with negative side effects. I also had shot of prednisone which temporarily assisted. The only thing I take for pain now is pineapple juice,(bromelin) ground flax seed and acai juice daily. Temporary relief comes from Watkins liniment or other topical treatments, as well as heat. It has been a year in April 2009, treatment began and I believe the medications have made an overall positive effect on my daily living. I think one of the hardest things with RA is accepting your new lifestyle and all the limitations that come with it because your lifestyle can dramatically change in a very brief period and this adjustment is crucial in the overall prognosis of the disease. It's as if your whole life has slowed down whether you want to or not. We must take it slow and continue to educate ourselves in learning to live with RA.
