I am a 64 year old male who is desperately trying to quit smoking. For really serious reasons. I saw your article about Patrick Swayze who was diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas, who is getting treatment but is still smoking. I feel for him. I'm kind of in the same position. I have tried everything!!! Recently, I had a diagnostic test done on my chest/lungs. Cat Scan. They found a tumor on the right lower lobe. Pet Scan, etc. When it was finally determined that I had lung cancer, I underwent surgery. Luckily, I caught it very early. They took out the small tumor (lobectomy) and were able to get all the malignant tissue. All lymph nodes are benign both locally and distant. No metastasis at all. The surgeon advises periodic cat scan testing but no chemo. I was very, very lucky. I have been smoking since I was a teenager. I' m really hooked. Like cocaine or heroin.
The bizarre part of this story is that I'm still smoking, at a reduced rate. HO HO
It's the lowest form of addiction. I need help quitting. Some input, please.
