ABOUT ME:

I have been living with mental illness for since college (probably earlier than that as I think back). This is the first time I've joined a community dealing with mental illness. I have spent most of my life trying to 'act normal' and to hide my problems. I've found that this is not an effective strategy. It has isolated me a great deal and fooled no one. So I'm trying to do some things differently now. I've just started seeing a sort of life coach. A very upbeat therapist who admits to knowing little of my diagnosis (a good thing...no preconceptions). Hopefully having a cheerleader in life who knows just enough about my illness to empathize and help me set realistic goals will help me to grow myself.
