Our companion animals who share our pain.

My companion dog of 10 years, died Sunday morning. We share on here so many topics that make us feel better but Buddy was always there unconditionally to make certain I was Ok. He followed me everywhere, encouraged me to exercise if I could, he cuddled with me on the bed if I didn't.
He was always ready for a car ride and to go somewhere and people would happily approach him and me and compliment what a wonderful dog he was when I felt I had...

Fibro and Weather!!!

I am in Minnesota. In the past week our weather changed overnight from winter to summer. Daffodil and tulip leaves grew over 12 inches in 2 days. My Royal StarMagnolias burst into full bloom.

I do not remember the last pain flare that was this crushing and the Oxycontin and Vicodin I have been having such release from are seemingly doing nothing. I am knotted up in a position in bed frozen in PAIN trembling, taking slow deep breaths to...

FDA panel recommends stop making Vicodin and Percocet

I finally got into a pain clinic and part of my meds include Hydrcodone with acetimenim at a lower level so it did not exceed the recommended dose "for liver safety". DUH! Can't we or our doctors measure the amount and just make certain the acet.. Is low enough that we are "safe" after they have encouraged everyone for years that it was such a safe drug..Don't stop making Vicodin or Percocet until a safe alternative can be manufactured! Remember...

Drug Seeker=Hammer Seeker?

Why are so many of us with chronic pain regarded as "Drug Seekers?" when we want something stronger than tylenol for pain?

We are not stupid. We have learned that if we we need to fix a nail in a board, we need something stronger to pound the nail in than a feather. We have learned through experience that it takes a hammer to do the job.

Our past experience with pain has taught us that we need something stronger than...

Safe Sharing

I feel as if this Health Central Support has become a place where some people come to blog their opinions about chronic pain and narcotics and and types of treatments that they feel are appropriate for other people. In some of these posts, it is very clear that they have never experienced chronic pain and are passing disapproval and negative judgements on patients who do.

I know that I already feel guity enough for not being able to...

a little Freedom at last!

I have Fibro, OA, and very acute nerve pain in my feet, and have been on disability since 2001. I have gone to various pain clinics and have used all the various trials of different neurotransmitters and ointments and tens units, etc. but never anything that worked long enough allow me to be able to go out in public except for very short times due to pain. My PC did not want to treat chronic pain with narcotics but that is the only thing...

ketoprofen 10% PLO for foot pain

i have become very skeptical after 10 years of trying many treatments that have not worked to having very unpleasant side effects. I was offered by the hospital ER this foot rub and turned it down flat. After anuther week or so of being in extreme pain, I got the RX filled.

I have only used it as prescribed and after less than a week. i am noticing a remarkable reduction in foot pain. Will keep you posted if this continues to be...

FDA statement on Tramadol

For heavens sakes, now the FDA is warning about Tramadol being dangerous as an opiod, with addiction and suicide warnings.

I am allowed five 50 mg. of tramadol a day for pain and it works about the same as ibuprofen, but if I take them together, I can keep some of the edge off pain.

I do not believe that the FDA is doing anything to help patients with chronic pain get help. When Tramadol came out years ago, my...

So much pain but I had to laugh!

I have been posting recently about not having adequate pain medication, however my husband is having some significant health problems and I want to help him and care for myself so I have been gathering every method I can to just get through the day.
Today I started out by sticking a lidoderm patch on the bottoms of each foot for nerve pain and held them on by wrapping with the elastic tape that wraps around and sticks to itself to hold them in...

Not coping with Physical and Mental Pain is a character defect.

I feel so shamed and weak by the way I have been talked to by medical professionals whom I have gone to recently who have told me "calling more than 1x per week to ask questions "raises re flags" about addiction", "hospital director and DEA won't allow us to give pain meds for pre-existing conditions so I can't even exam or access you","my hands are tied by the law" ...(I was not whining or demanding)
I can't even continue thinking about this I...
