ABOUT ME:

I am 25 and was diagnosed with migraines by the age of 6 my migraines are triggered by a variety of different things which makes them extremely hard to treat. I have been on a variety of different meds over the course of the years and tried several combination's as well. The migraines are genetic my father(50) suffers from migraines as well but he responds better to medications then I do, but it is still hard to watch him fight something that I know from experience that I know is painful and it is hard on him to see the meds don't help me. My grandmother died at the age of 48 when she lost her battle with Migraines, when she stroked and then had rebound migraines her system couldn't take it anymore. Her mother died during child birth in her early 30's possibly due to a blood clot but she suffered from migraines as well. I personally have gone though what I hope is the worst of it so far but I know realistically it is probably still around the corner. At the age of 21 I had what is thought to be a stroke although I did not go to the hospital till weeks after when I was well enough to go to a doctor.Thankfully I had someone taking care of me but the person did not know much about migraines and unfortunately I recall little from the time frame only a couple snippets here and there when I got really scared about my reaction. Since then my concentration is no where what it used to be but I still try my best and keep trying to challenge myself although I get frustrated when I loose track of what I am saying mid sentence. The really frustrating part is that my own mother doesn't believe me that I had a stroke or that my migraines are as bad as I say but I think primarily it is because I don't really want to scare my parents. As for medications I am not taking any right now because I found that most of them made me sicker then I was to start off with and didn't even help to take the edge off. Right now I take Ginger root pretty much daily and eat dark chocolate to take help ease my migraines away. It has been fairly effective in treating migraines in the early stages but I find once it gets past that sleep is the only cure.
