ABOUT ME:

Many health issues causing MUCH pain...but looking forward to tomorrow, who knows it may be a good day! I am looking forward to also learning more so I can help myself try to feel- heal better....8) I also have a 'page' or 'site' or whatever you call it on the RA connection of the Health Central websites. I'm like a sponge...trying to learn as much as I can about all this. I have been dealing with this pain in silence for too long (10 years) and it'll be nice to read other peoples posts and know I am not alone. I have a family and they are GREAT, but I have always and still try to remain the 'backbone' of my family...show no pain, show no fear and cry in a dark room by myself so no one knows how much it really hurts. I look forward, like said, to learning how to manage this mess and 'meeting' new people. Here is just some of the crap I am 'dealing' with- Positive for RA factor, TMJ, IBS and Diverticulitis,Hiatal hernia and GERD,Degenerative tear of rotator cuff - R shoulder Patellar tendinitis and Articular cartilage breakdown (both knees), Degenerative Disc Disease-L3-4, 4-5, 5-S1, born with Spina-Bifida-Occulta, Lumbar Spinal Stenosis,Lumbar Radiculopathy,MPS, Fibromyalgia, Peripheral Neuropathy, Chronic Pain and Sciatica...almost forgot I also have a Vestibular Disorder, so on the days I can somewhat 'get around' I feel like the world is spinning under me..what fun...8) Be Well, ThinxMinx

Hi there,

I just wanted to say that I appreciate the directness in your response to the "Summer Fun" post. I mean, we are all rolling in money, right? The thing is, ChronicPainConnection.com is a commerical site and they have sponsors. I look at all posts by their experts in a suspect way: they are usually trying to sell us a product or a recommend a drug. I wonder if you'll get a reply from the author of the summer list?

Summer is a challenge with people out and about and active. There are so many things that I can't do. I have a long lanudry list of pains similar to you and, though I love the heat of summer, it is a season that is rife with emotional struggle for me. Summer fun is often elusive, but I do seek it out. Pacing is the key, as always. And being creative. I wish you all the best in managing your pain and seeking warm weather wonder this coming summer.

Regards,

Donimo

I have to admit that my jaw dropped when I read this expert's ideas for summer fun.  I'm sure she means well (?), but  she is the poster doctor for the problems that we face---she is totally clueless.  I feel  sorry for her patients.  And the picture of her lounging around, looking happy and pain free--they will never get it.  I'm glad I have people like you.  I, too, was waiting for someone to slam me for my post, but I just couldn't let her summer fun ideas go unchallenged and had to back you on your response.  I had planned to work until I was at least 70 and would give 10 years of my life to be able to do that.  I have dreams every night that I am back at work and then wake up in the morning to face the ugly reality.

Hang in there my friend,

Elaine
